Who: Florence and the Machine.

Where and when: Other stage, Friday 7.20pm

Dress code: Florence is resplendent in a white body suit with a feathery attachment that makes her look a bit like a swan.

What happened: As Florence Welch tells us from the stage, she's played Glastonbury four years in a row. The first year was at the tea tent during breakfast, last year she packed out the John Peel tent and now – wow! – this. As she plays tracks from debut album Lungs, the crowd sings along to hits such as the Drumming Song and non-hits such as Between Two Lungs, giving Flo a spring in her bare-footed steps. As the set builds, she ends Dog Days Are Over by getting the crowd to jump in unison (something that manages to make the entire field quiver) before covering Fleetwood Mac's The Chain. Flo might overdo the big notes and, as a couple of new numbers suggest, she's probably keen to move on to fresh songs but still, she's got the sun-scarred crowd around her pinkie. Expect her fifth Glastonbury appearance to top the Pyramid.

Who's watching: Everyone it seems, you can hardly move at the Other stage.

High point: The slow ripple of recognition when the crowd hears the harp opening to Dog Days Are Over.

Low point: The audible sighs when Welch prefaced numbers with "and this is a new song".

In a tweet: She got the love from the Glastonbury crowd.
