Last week's Observer predicted that this was going to be a Scandinavian Christmas, and here comes Swedish trombonist Landgren with the latest in what looks like becoming a new seasonal tradition. With a group of top Scandinavian musicians, he puts together a programme of Christmas pieces from around the world, recording them live in a church. It's warm, crisp and not the least bit corny. Songs range from carols to Stevie Wonder's Someday at Christmas. Saxophonist Jonas Knutsson, vocalist Jessica Pilnäs and Landgren himself are outstanding.
