While Britain is currently short of great reggae bands, France boasts this powerhouse outfit from Saint-Etienne, who have learned plenty from Aswad and Steel Pulse and added their own flourishes of roots style. This fifth album is their most assured, full of brass-driven pieces such as Revolution and Paradise (a commentary on advertising's bogus world), mixing up ensemble vocals with ragga raps, all delivered in French, English and more. Il Faut Qu'On Ose dips into boulevard accordion, Foudagh into mid-eastern wails, while Enfants des Ghettos borrows African kora. The production is polished and for afters comes a spicy chunk of dub. The rootsman bites back.
