It would be hard to find two talents more well-matched than Norwegian singer Karin Krog and British multi-instrumentalist John Surman. These nine songs, jointly composed, bring out the special qualities of them both. Krog's apparently simple style has a clarity and precision that becomes more telling with the passage of time, while Surman never fails to surprise you with some new texture or sudden change of direction. Among many enjoyable things here are Question Song, incorporating a kind of cut-up word collage, and a terrific, sunny, Latin-flavoured Happy Song, featuring Surman's bass clarinet.
