The Script: #3 – review

The Script's third album is another slice of anaemic rock, writes Paul Mardles

With two No 1 albums to their name and a singer (Danny O'Donoghue) who's a mentor on The Voice, the Script are, commercially at least, a major band. The Dublin trio's appeal, though, remains a mystery, thanks to their third pasteurised amalgam of windswept Celtic soul and graceless R&B. The best track, current single Hall of Fame, owes much to the frontman's TV colleague will.i.am, while If You Could See Me Now is spirited and heartfelt. For the most part, though, #3 – who gave the green light to that title? – is rock with all the rage and idiosyncracies removed.
